Part design studio, part manufacturing workshop, we cover a lot of ground in our East Austin space. On any given day, you might find us shaping a brand story, designing a space, refining a prototype, or casting bronze at 2,000 degrees in our in-house foundry. We’ve always admired designers unafraid to cross disciplines—those who travel back and forth over the paper-thin line dividing art and design. As Massimo Vignelli said, “If you can design one thing, you can design anything.”

For our studio signage, we started with a sketch which then turned into a technical 2D drawing with dimensions. After the details were worked out on paper we build CAD model, and print it out on a 3D printer. After some sanding and finishing this 3d print will become the pattern for casting mold. Once a sand mold is rammed up, we heat bronze alloy to 2000 degrees. The Liquid Metal is then poured into the mold. Once the metal is cooled, we can put the cast piece through it’s finishing process and it’s then ready for install.
Design and art are not isolated activities. They are not separate compartments. We do not work in a vacuum. Everything we make lives in a larger field of relationships between disciplines, between people, between form and function.
